Stick To The Basics

It will be weeks, months, and even years before the full extent of Covid-19 is understood but in the meantime, there are simple things we can do to help ourselves and each other. I find I remind myself daily to stick to the basics;

  • Talk:  We are all in this together and talking to people has helped me manage much of my fears surrounding the changing global landscape. So, if you are feeling a little uneasy, or a lot un-easy, please call someone! and that includes us!! Mike and I are pretty easy fellows to chat with. Talking helps.
  • Get outside, go for a walk, get some exercise!: This has been absolutely key for me. I feel better after every walk or visit to the home gym (it’s a yoga mat…nothing fancy and calling it a home gym seems wrong – but you get the point). So simple and 100% free but honestly the absolute best stress management tool ever – there is a science to back me up on this one. Google it;)
  • Eat!: Not just stress foods but eat the best-balanced meals you can make. Nutrition is important! It impacts the way our minds process information and the emotions we experience so make sure your brain is getting the good nutrition it needs in times like these.
  • Sleep: Can’t sleep? Talk to your Dr. – many Dr’s are switching to skype calls and phone calls now and can help walk you through what you may need to do next in order to get you the sleep you need to manage these strange times. Heads up, help with sleep will likely involve eating well and getting regular exercise/walks;)
  • Review your finances: The game changed and a lot of us are going to have to change how we have been playing. There are services out there for us and mortgage payment deferrals to explore. Don’t wait until it’s too late! Start making calls now – and again, Mike and I are happy to talk about finances. We may have some helpful insights thanks to years of working with people and their finances. It’s better to start looking for the weak points in our finances now and ensure we have a plan to improve them as we move forward.

Whatever you do, don’t isolate yourself completely – phone calls, text messages, emails, etc… are all safe ways to stay connected which is something we all need if we are going to come through this as our best selves.

Our numbers are here – please, don’t be shy. We would love to hear from you. Wishing you all health and balance.
